Robert Mountjoy SWAc

Robert Mountjoy has been a teacher of art in all phases of education. His personal work has been important to his career in education as well as a vehicle for individual expression. He has worked in a range of styles and genres but has found his voice in a new and unique approach to still life. Simple objects are posed in beams of light and observed with painstaking precision.

Working on stretched paper layers of acrylic paint are applied over a gesso ground. Detail is added with size 0 and 1 brushes before more thin layers of colour. Finishing glazes are sometimes added in watercolour.

Robert has shown his work with the South West Academy since its beginnings in 2000 and became and Academician in 2003. He now serves as a Trustee and a mentor to Associate members.
